Hello lovelies!

As a shopkeeper I've always used Instagram more as a resource than as a place to socialize. I'm constantly on the hunt for the elusive needle in a haystack of a talented creator who crafts a beautiful product (or piece of writing, or artwork), or a talented curator who expresses the essence of what they're about beyond the surface level of hawking their wares.

When I catch the scent of one of these elusive creatures, the very first thing I'll do is look for the Instagram link. Before I wade into a website to read the "about" page or look at the "shop" section I want to see the big picture (the mood board as it were). It's the meeting of two clichés... "show, don't tell" and "a picture is worth a thousand words". I can immediately see if we are on the same wave length, if this is someone or something that I want to invest the time in getting to know more about.

I know Instagram gets a bad rap these days, and I totally understand why (that f***ing algorithm!) but I'm a little sad to see, more and more, the grid just being used as a generic sales-y billboard junked up with a lot of shout-y text. I much prefer to be enticed in with a little flirty eye-contact, some subtle come-hither seduction before I'm banged over the head with the hard sell...or is that just me?!

Anyhooo...this week I thought I'd focus on the photographers and visual artists who "give good grid"...this is just a smattering of those that have drawn me in lately...
