Hello lovelies!
I’ve been having a busy few weeks what with being invited to attend my first Moroccan wedding and then a lovely week spent in Essaouira...one of my favorite places. I’ve been twice now and still feel that there is much to discover but the place definitely has a “vibe” that I love...maybe I’ll attempt to do a post about it soon...although I’m sure I’ll just be scratching the surface. If any of you have been I’d love to hear about what you discovered there!
This picture was taken by my friend Paul...he’s much better at getting his excellent photos sorted out and posted more regularly than I am...check out his latest instagram posts to see more from the wedding and Essaouira!
LUCINDA CHAMBERS | stylist | "looks"
instagram | collagerie | interview
I went down a little Lucinda Chambers rabbit hole...I like her personal style and these occasional styling videos she posts on the Collagerie IG, presumably filmed from inside her closet...she has a way with the mix!
I thought this was a good interview, recorded in September 2013 when she was still at British Vogue where she worked, on and off, for 36 years, working her way up from a secretarial position to eventually becoming Fashion Director in 1997.
In 2017 she was unceremoniously sacked by incoming Editor-in-Chief, Edward Enninful, and has since gone on to co-found Collagerie, “a curated online shopping and editorial platform,” which I wrote a bit about here.
“Truth be told, I haven’t read Vogue in years. Maybe I was too close to it after working there for so long, but I never felt I led a Vogue-y kind of life. The clothes are just irrelevant for most people — so ridiculously expensive.”

DEBORAH NOLAN | Tulsishop | “looks”
instagram | website | locations
Established in 2008, Tulsishop is the vision of London-born textile collector and stylist, Deborah Nolan, who, having settled in the small village of Marittima in Puglia to raise her young children, decided one day to experiment with turning the front of her home into a small shop. In spite of her doubts that it would work, people slowly started showing up and today Tulsishop has expanded to four stores in the Puglia region of Italy.
Every couple of days she joyfully shares her impeccably styled “looks” on her Instagram feed and provides a masterclass in blending colour, proportion and texture. She focuses on easy, unstructured silhouettes and breezy layers in natural fabrics sourced from craftspeople in Mexico, Africa, India, Vietnam and Thailand.
“I always venture down the dusty unbeaten roads and tucked away alleys where many a treasure can be discovered.”

HELLO, TASHA | upcycling | vintage
The IG algorithm threw this my way a couple of weeks ago when I was looking for inspiration for a skirt I had decided to make out of a stash of vintage scarves I had. I haven’t been able to find any further information about it other than that she runs a little vintage shop in South Korea...but she certainly has a knack for upcycling and for making cute skirts!

BEATRIX OST | artist | "looks"
instagram | website | the bardo
The rather fabulous Beatrix Ost...age 86 and still embodying the German concept of gesamtkunstwerk — a “total work of art.”
“I remember there was nothing in post-WWII Germany when I grew up. There were no stores to shop in, so nothing was bought. Everything was bartered, so I began to invent. I think that the lack of resources is what allowed me to seek out my own style. It taught me how to repurpose things around me. In Germany at that time, you could see right away when somebody had that joie de vivre, when someone was moving forward with happiness instead of retreating back into the war with sadness.”
